| True sanctuary: a facility that rescues and provides shelter and care for animals that have been abused, injured, abandoned or are otherwise in need. There can be:
Purpose: to provide lifelong refuge, health care, rehabilitation, enrichment and love to previously neglected animals on 100 rural acres. Animals: previously emaciated, 24/7 chained and abused dogs, domestic waterfowl, and abandoned city roosters, call the Sanctuary home. How? Animals come to A.S.K. from a variety of sources. Many are relinquished by previous guardians, via legal intervention or via other rescue organizations and agencies. A.S.K. does not adopt Sanctuary animals out due to their special-needs. A.S.K. cannot take your dog or cat in due to space restrictions. The Sanctuary is only a refuge for the small number of animals we have saved. These animals serve as ambassadors to the hundreds that cannot be rescued. The Sanctuary is open to volunteers and financial contributors only, to preserve the tranquility and quality of animals' lives. We are not a petting zoo. A.S.K. works closely with other reputable non-profit rescues and humane societies to place adoptable animals relinquished to us in loving, lifelong homes. |

| ASTRA'S Story Astra was found hidden in a backyard, crated, among eight other chained pitbulls. Her guardian expressed discontent over her "quality for breeding", and she was relinquished to A.S.K. on the spot. Malnourished and dehydrated, she had bloody calluses on her legs from constant crate confinement. She was provided with emergency vet care. She was found and rescued due solely to the direct-outreach efforts of A.S.K. Astra represents the many hidden chained and crated dogs that are currently suffering only to be used as breeding machines or status symbols, or lawn ornaments. They are waiting for YOU to make change for them. Astra is now part of the A.S.K. Sanctuary family where she will never have to worry about getting chained or crated! Her previous guardian was charged with animal cruelty. |
